Important Notes Before Starting
1. Movies and TV Shows Are Both Supported
Movie Tracker can import both movies and TV shows from your DVDpedia library. When a row has a valid IMDb identifier, Movie Tracker will recognise the title type automatically. Rows without an IMDb identifier are treated as movies, so a TV show box set without IMDb may not be matched.
2. How Title Matching Works
DVDpedia rows that include an IMDb identifier are matched exactly through The Movie Database (TMDB), regardless of the title language. Rows without an IMDb identifier are matched by title, and when available, the Theatrical year is used to disambiguate similar titles. Localized titles (for example a German title for an English movie) may not match in this fallback path. Unmatched titles will appear in an error list at the end of the import so you can add them manually later.
3. What Gets Imported
The following fields are imported into Movie Tracker when they are present in your DVDpedia export:
- Title (matched against TMDB)
- IMDb identifier (when available)
- Date Added (used as the date the item was added to your library)
- My Rating (the DVDpedia 0–5 scale is converted to Movie Tracker’s 0–10 scale)
- Tags
- Comments (saved as a note on the item)
- Last Seen (used as a watched activity date)
- Play Count greater than zero (marks the item as watched)
Fields like Summary, Director, Starring, Studio, Aspect Ratio, Region, Duration, Price, and other DVD-specific metadata are not imported. Movie Tracker retrieves up-to-date information for each title from TMDB.
